TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT , THIS IS THE QUESTION - TRANSLATION FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING CHURGIE FELLOWS

Hello everbody and sorry for the long absence . I know that some months have passed since my last post , even if the relationship among the "Churgie " friends,   as we use to call ourselves , " on our Facebook group " Churg Strauss Forum Italy” is going on.
I’ve been planning for a lot of time to dedicate a post to my experience with Ayurvedic medicine.
I think many of you have already heard of this ancient science .
For those who have not, I will spend a few words to define the subject.
Ayurvedic medicine is a complex and ancient medical system that includes aspects of prevention and care aiming at extending and enhancing human life in harmony with nature. Ayurveda means " knowledge of life " and thus understanding of the man .

I want to start by saying that I am not fond of Orient philosophies . I'm not a mystical subject, and it’s difficult for me to be conditioned.

I firmly believe in modern science and medicine. I find it much easier to take antibiotics, than thinking of the "life" that flows into me while I am eating.

Nevertheless I am also an open-minded person and , having nothing to lose, behind the suggestion of a dear friend, I decided to see a ayurvedish doctor and to try this approach to my illness.

Ayurvedic visit’s approach is not very scientific. The doctor, in a white, ascetic dress with a vaguely hippie look, makes you take off your glasses and than touches your right wrist .

He looks at you intently and begins to give his diagnosis, identifying your health problems (both physical and mental) and disarmonies present in your body between the main elements that compose it.
To avoid writing heresies, I invite those interested to Ayurveda to look for information somewhere else.
The fact is that after this accurate (and surprisingly true) analysis of my problems, the white doctor sent me home with a number of herbal remedies and dietary supplements that completely changed my food habits.
Supplements are to be taken morning and night and change depending on the disease diagnosed. They are made of herbs and spices and are meant to regulate body functions .
The diet excludes wheat flour (pasta , bread, pizza - HELP ! ), red meat, fish, and partly in the case of breath and lungs problems, the total elimination of cow's milk and cheese.

The Holy man also recommended me a completely vegetarian diet for two months.
I left the center full of skepticism and doubts
But now I had spent some money and I was persuaded to try it.
The result was surprising. For almost 6 months I have been VERY WELL . I was not sick, I didn’t relapse, I felt fully fit , energetic, I lost weight and I have learned to enjoy healthy and almost entirely organic eating.
Was it a coincidence? I do not know . Now I came back to the cold and cough also, but I feel fine, nevertheless.
What is the impact of supplements can not say , but I believe that the change of diet has been the turning point for me in terms of good health. This is why I’d like to share my new diet with you, my fellows, without scientific pretensions, but inviting you to the test it. Because it could be a pleasant surprise for you .

DECALOGUE :
1 - Eliminate or limit as much as possible the consumption of milk and cheese, especially vaccines. You can replace them very well with soy and derivatives. Of course pizza without mozzarella is not the same thing. But it’s worthwhile trying for a while. And if you eat somethingevery now and then I think you will not die! :-P
2 - Use alternative flours . There are an infinite variety of alternative flours , nutrient-rich , organic and tasty with which you can prepare whatever you can do with wheat flour . First the Kamut ( Khorasan Wheat ) that is identical in taste but noble in the properties, followed by the spelt , buckwheat, cereal flours . You can make pasta , breads, wonderful cakes without losing anything in terms of taste but gaining a lot in terms of well-being
3 – Try to have a vegetarian diet. Fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and help you achieve an endless variety of tasty and healthy . The downside is that you need to cook a lot, but once you get used, you won’t be able to do without them.
4 - Avoid soft drinks and cold drinks, both alcoholic and not . I know nothing's better than a flute of sparkling wine as an aperitif on a warm sunny day, a good beer with friends, a colde coke with your fellows . I’m not telling you to give up forever , but believe me, you will feel much better if you avoid to drink them every day. Try if possible to replace them with tea , infusions and herbal teas. Sweetened with cane sugar.
5 - Avoid acidic foods , especially citrus fruits. As well as peppers , eggplant, potatoes ( especially fried) . Your stomach will thank you.
6 - Drink , drink and drink again . Water, tea , herbal teas, organic juices . Hydration is the basis for the purification and health.
7 - Cereal for breakfast . A good muesli with soy milk. A good green tea with cookies made with alternative grains . And you will feel in shape until lunch without mid-morning snacks and additional calories.
8 - Eat with pleasure but do not overdo. Getting up from the table without burdening . Eating is a pleasure, but the pleasure vanishes when "we eat too much”
9 - Green mung beans . The cure-all. Good as lentils, easy to cook , tempting , antioxidants, purifying . They are miraculous to detoxify the body and good for those who have problems with peristalsis.
10 - Common sense. Everything I wrote can help, but it is not a medicine. It's a good basis of eating for everyone , but it cannot be a diktat . Exceptions to these rules will be the help to follow them on a daily basis.
I would also say that these tips are certainly useful to feel better but they cannot replace traditional therapies.
We have to follow our therapies, but we can contrast and limit their side effects while improving the quality of our lives, taking care of our body while eating, as we are what we eat

See you soon !
